#88 – Lost In Paradise

Hey guys, I’m so sorry this post came a day late! This week is an unexpectedly busy week for me in RL so I gotta keep this post short. To be honest, this was a difficult look to put together, and I didn’t wanna go the fully romantic route with this beautiful gown from GLITTER for Penumbra Fashion Week.
Hence, Jackson and I conceptualized a romantic but tragic look for this photo shoot. The gown, with the pretty little flowers (which were colored one by one) was to be the romantic aspect of the shoot, while in terms of color the black represented a sadder and sombre tone. Immediately after putting on the gown I thought of the movie, Black Swan and was inspired by that when putting the rest of the look together.
The hair is from !SOUL, and you can purchase them in various shades. This one happens to be the Ginger tone, which I loved. In itself, the hairstyle is edgy and can be worn on many different occasions. This was actually a gift from a friend of mine in preparation for the Miss Virtual World auditions a few months ago, if you guys still remember. Unfortunately, I didn’t get in, but the process of the auditions was fun and it was a good learning experience for me. The crown comes from Cute Poison, and it was one of three Clockwork Crown gifts in different colors (the other two colors are silver and gold) as part of a storewide hunt.
The most important accessory that brought the look together and complemented the dress was the bloody blindfold group gift from Tabou Irresistible. I thought it created a story to a look that would otherwise be purely romantic, with the story of me as a blinded bird caged up in the stunning sim, Failure To Thrive. Tabou Irresistible also has a wall full of past group gifts behind the counter. So just join the group (it’s free) at the counter, pick up the current group gift, then head round to the wall behind the counter and collect the rest.
I still have one look to blog for you guys before the end of fashion week and I hope it will turn out the way I envision it to be. Can’t wait!
Love, Kai

#86 – Queen Of The Sands

Hey guys, as promised, this is the second look for Penumbra Fashion Week, which has already begun!
Taking inspiration from this stunning Kosem Sultan outfit courtesy of Firefly, Jackson suggested this crazy huge sim called Kingdom of Sand for the photo shoot. I guess most of you know about this sim since it’s rather famous. Lots of roleplay going on there but lately the sim has been kinda quiet. Nonetheless, the place is a must visit for those who’ve never been there. Even for someone who has been there, there are still lots of hidden locations to be discovered!
This look is kinda straightforward, as I put on the complete outfit and just added a hair to complement it. The outfit reminded a lot of belly dancers or the girls of a sultan’s harem, so I picked a hair that looked appropriate, again from pr!tty. The Ariel hair is a voluminous hairstyle that’s great for really sexy and sultry looks (I hope this photo came across as that!). Also, I stopped wearing my black and white skin for this photo as I wanted a more exotic skin tone to fit into the context and make the photo look right. And for that I made use of Elysium’s Zoe skin. Elysium skins come in a variety of skin tones so you’ll find one you like!
Third post will be coming out tomorrow so do look forward to it! Till then, have fun shopping and do attend the fashion shows if you can!
Love, Kai

#85 – Damsel In Distress

The first post for Penumbra Fashion Week and what a better way to start off than with an over-the-top photo shoot? An evil beast (a Cthulhu, more precisely) has invaded the castle and now the princess has to flee. And always remember to flee in style, in the best couture there is. 😛
This amazing gold Goddess Gown comes from Masoom, exclusively for Penumbra Fashion Week, starting today and lasting one whole week. The gown comes complete with a crown and necklace, a perfect ensemble if you’re attending a ball, or perhaps for fleeing the castle in, just like me. I got slightly lazy with the skin and makeup choices, as you can see, but to be honest, it does give a nice contrast against the gown. The Navi hair from pr!tty also lends a more hurried, panicky feel to the photo with the amazing effortless, windswept hairs.
This is a slightly short post cos the photo says almost everything I wanna bring across to you guys. Oh, and I gotta thank Jackson for taming the Cthulhu for the photo shoot, placing it in the right position was challenging. Of course, there was also a lot of effort put into getting the right sky and environment too!
Alright, this is gonna be a busy week for me, constantly posting photos for Penumbra Fashion week, and it will be a feast for your eyes! I’ll try to post once per day, so do come check back often!
Love, Kai

#84

Don’t be fooled! There’s absolutely no black and white filter going through this photo (other than the flowers) at all. This photo was shot entirely in color at Apple Fall.
I was very inspired by Halloween looks that involved painting yourself completely in black and white, as if you had just stepped out from an old television. I decided to try it for myself, since the convenience of SL is the ease of just changing your looks just like that, without the need for any paint whatsoever. I realized I had the ‘ingredients’ (for the lack of a better word) needed for this look to happen.
The Glam Affair skin for the LeLutka mesh head and Maitreya mesh body happened to come in an Arctic version, which was completely white. If you recall, I used it once before right here. Next was the makeup, and to be honest, this was the simplest part of styling the whole look cos you can find black makeup just about anywhere. Some black eyeshadow from .charme., as well as the grunge gloss from Shakeup! did the trick.
This pretty little dress from ISON, which came as a gift from the Hair Fair a few months ago just happened to contain a black and white version, which was a dream come true for me. Of course, there’s also colored options too. I matched the dress with a pair of Astrid classic pumps courtesy of Elysium. Elysium makes such amazing shoes I definitely had to showcase their newest designs. To complete the look, I chose a hair from pr!tty. I haven’t blogged pr!tty in such a long time (sorry Karla!), so I thought this would be a good time to do so. Besides, pr!tty hairs are always the best choice if you’re going for a soft and effortless look. The newest huds come in Grayscales and Wilds, so there are more color options now. I’ve been dying for a grayscale hud so I was super excited I could show it to you guys.
To keep the look from being too boring, I chose to add flowers to the look – partly as a matching element to the pattern on my dress – so that there would be a pop of color. A simple background and a simple pose brought this look to life. It’s definitely one of my favorite looks so far. You seldom do see people in SL walking around in black and white too, so I thought it was kinda interesting and cute. Might be sticking with this look for awhile. I hope you guys love it!

#81

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of descriptions in the last two posts. I kinda posted them during my RL busy period, so I was more concerned with getting the posts out so that you guys had something to look at, at least. Now that I’m free again, here is a post to bridge the summer and fall season. And what better way to do it than with an this beautiful evening gown by AZUL.
The Nayomi gown is a recent release from AZUL and the thing I love most about AZUL dresses and gowns is that they come in a stunning choice of 14 colors. I’m not gonna list all the colors down for you, you can check them out at the AZUL mainstore. So there’s most likely one color that you’ll absolutely love, but of course do still try on the demos before making your purchase. This gown is a little tricky to wear, so the demos will be useful.
I complemented the color of the gown with the yellow eyeshadow from .charme.. It comes in a collection of 4 different eyeshadow colors in one pack to match your outfits. This eyeshadow is kinda hard to wear, so I was glad to have found the right occasion to make use of it. For my hair, I went with a hairstyle and color that would not clash with the gown or take away the attention from it, so a slicked back style in a light color worked best. Though this hair is a Hair Fair gift from fiore and isn’t available anymore, you can find other similar styles at the fiore mainstore. Oh, and one more thing, you guys gotta go grab this pearl necklace from Lazuri! It’s a freebie set of two necklaces and are so perfect for evening looks. There are two other freebies there too, just head into the Lazuri mainstore and walk right till the end, you won’t miss it.
Hope you guys loved this elegant photo shoot I did with Jackson. The fall season is coming real soon now, so do expect more posts that are suitable for fall!
Love, Kai
